卑盧

A transliteration (personal name) found in MĀ 146 (T26.656a17 ff.) for *pilo[tika]. This was the name of a non-Buddhist practitioner who praised the Buddha when he encountered the priest Jāṇussoni.

学研漢和大字典 (182c, 888b) lists the early and late Middle Chinese pronunciation of 卑盧 as piĕ-hlo and pi-lo.

The Pali parallel at MN 27 is Pilotika.

Edgerton (346a) defines BHS pilotika (Skt. plotika) as (1) a piece of cloth or (2) a connecting cord or thread.
